Saxony Carpets – what & why are they so popular?
With so many types of carpet on the market, it can be difficult to know where to start when the time comes to choose new flooring for your home. Saxony carpets are an extremely popular choice with British homeowners, as they are not only stylish and elegant to look at, but are also extremely comfortable underfoot. Saxony carpets have been in regular supply for many years, but recently we have seen an overwhelming resurgence in their popularity.
Why Saxony Carpets have Increased in Popularity
There are many reasons why the Saxony carpet has become a household favourite lately, firstly due to the new generation of supersoft fibres which have made them one of the softest and most comfortable carpets on the market.
The Saxony carpet is also highly complementary of the soft furnishings fashion many homeowners choose. What looks more inviting than a comfy bed, covered in pillows and throws and a supersoft carpet underfoot?
The increase in popularity has also come on the back of improvements over the last few years with stainfree properties in man-made carpets. Due to the busy working lifestyle many lead, stainfree carpets are a fantastic choice. Being supersoft, attractive and stainfree it’s clear to see why Saxony carpets are a winning purchase.
What You Can Expect from a Saxony Carpet
Saxony carpets are available in straight and textured designs. Straight Saxony carpets are often described as being like velvet, because all the fibres sit in the same direction. This produces a soft feel and a uniform appearance. Textured Saxony carpets have become increasingly popular in recent years, and they feature twisted or kinked fibres for a less formal finish. While it’s not as soft as a straight-pile carpet texture, Saxony carpets are useful for disguising vacuuming marks or footprints. If you’d like to see the difference between the two types of Saxony carpets in person, please feel free to come and view a selection of our carpets in Woking at our main store or in our other stores in Newbury and Winchester.
Although they can be used in most rooms of the home, it might be best not to lay them in rooms with heavy foot traffic. The carpets are extremely soft and can be marked by constant footprints and over-frequent vacuuming. If you have a less frequently used living room or cosy study, however, a Saxony carpet might be the perfect choice for you. If you do want to lay a Saxony in a busier room, it’s a good idea to opt for a textured design which will not show marks as readily.
